I am probably way off the mark here, and please tell me if that is so.I realise that Morris, like Rogers is a common name. I am doing personal research on the history of the Malagasy uprising against the French in 1947. There was a maverick British officer called Major Morris who aided the rebels. No - my ancestors actually just adopted Morris at Ellis Island.
